Hello Rebecca, and you too Mark,
I just want to let you know that, although gone, Mark, through his blog, continues to have an impact. I couldn't help but notice that Mark, in his hopes to use his cancer as a medium of leaving a lasting impact on humanity, felt so defeated by not having been accepted for the clinical trial. In a sort, his cancer robbed him of that, too.
But the reality is, by chronicling his journey toward death, he has made a lasting impact.
Like you, I too have had to witness this journey by loved ones, and find myself having to do so again, and it was this that led my to yours and Mark's blog. It is important that I let you know I thoroughly enjoyed reading this blog, from beginning to end.
I found Marks words honest, inspiring and profoundly human. Above all, I found them comforting. Strange, I know, but witnessing others facing this emotionally challenging journey is helpful in reducing the feelings of helplessness and "why me". It's not just me, it's all of us, in our own way, in our own time.
Thank you Mark, I really wish I had read this blog before your passing, as you seemed a great guy, and I would have loved to have conversed with a real life American Independent!
Good luck in the future Rebecca, it will get easier, the memories of the good times will eventually overwhelm the bad, leaving you with nothing but smiles when you think of Mark...as he would want.
Also, Rebecca, your continued blogging is nice. By no means should you feel compelled to do so frequently, but I'm sure many who read this are those who do not have the terminal illness, and reading about your life, even if in snippets, after the end of the battle, will no doubt provide them with the belief that the future is worth facing.
You should be very proud of this blog, it is an incredible body of writing, far more than a simple blog, it borders on art.
